Join us for a night at the theater! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship, CHASS Dean’s Scholarship Fund, and the Theatre Arts Fund.

Meet playwright Rickerby M Hinds, Professor of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production, and Daryle Williams, Professor of History and Dean of UCR's College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at our preshow reception.

Blackbox is a hip-hop retelling of abolitionist Henry Box Brown’s escape to freedom. Brown was also a magician and illusionist who in 1849 arranged to have himself mailed in a wooden crate from Virginia to abolitionists contacts in Philadelphia.
