BCOE MATCH CHALLENGE
I want to extend my sincere appreciation for your generous support! As the
new President of UCR’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers
(NSBE), I am deeply proud of our achievements and profoundly thankful for
your ongoing partnership and investment in us.

In October, the BCOE Match Challenge presents an exciting opportunity to further support NSBE. Starting on October 3rd, all donations to NSBE between $25 and $1000 per donor will be matched dollar for dollar, thanks to the generous contributions from Match Challenge sponsor, Triad Magnetics, and other Bourns College of Engineering donors. We are just $10,000 away from our $100,000 endowment fund goal. This year, our target is to raise $30,000 in total for both current use and our endowed fund. Your support can turn individual gifts of $15,000 into $30,000! Our goal is ambitious, and we need your active support! Please share this opportunity with your employer and networks. We hope you will invest in us this year and renew your support with a gift by October 31,2023.

Empowered by your support
Be assured that your investment has an immediate impact on our members’ activities and professional development!

Here is a compelling illustration:

  * Last spring, ten of our NSBE members joined thousands of aspiring and practicing engineers at the NSBE National Convention. During the event, they faced exciting challenges and found inspiration. Some of our members even received immediate job offers, with a few receiving multiple offers. Additionally, several secured internship opportunities. It's worth noting that all expenses, including registration, transportation, and lodging, were covered by the NSBE endowed fund and the gift funds raised during last year's match challenge.
  * Our "Passing the Torch Peer Mentorship Program" (PTPM) matches incoming black first-year and transfer students with accomplished upperclass students to facilitate a seamless transition into BCOE. Now in its fourth year and serving 20 mentees, PTPM acts as a stabilizing influence, where mentees evolve into mentors and future NSBE leaders in the following year. The program's success is made possible through mentor training, provisions, supplies, and gatherings, all of which are supported by the NSBE endowment and your generous contributions.
  * NSBE UCR's K-12 Outreach takes immense pride in our award-winning efforts. We collaborate with various organizations such as the LA Black College Expo, churches, NAACP, and NSBE Jr. chapters with community-based STEM programs. We teamed up with local teachers at Palm Middle School to engage 50+ students in hands-on STEM activities in the past. This summer, in partnership with 100 Black Men of the Inland Empire, we established a Lego League team from Garvey Allen Academy, engaging in ongoing robotics activities on two Saturdays per month at UCR. This success has set us on the path to developing a comprehensive NSBE Jr. STEM pipeline program, bridging middle and high school to higher education.
NSBE Graduates - What are they doing now?
It is evident that your contributions are not only fostering our professional development, but also serving as a cornerstone for NSBE’s mission to inspire future STEM students, enhance alumni engagement, and cultivate a culture of success. Need more evidence? Let’s dive into the remarkable achievements of our recent graduates:
