Hi BFASA Family,

Happy Friday! TGIF! 😊

Passing along some important information from Dr. Jamal Myrick, the Director of ASP. If anyone is interested in serving in the Black Student Experience Work Group 2.0, please reach out to him before December 11, 2020 at 12p. Charge: Implementation of the list of recommendations; Priorities based on the recommendations list. Overall, the goal is for scholars, faculty and staff to work collaboratively with a spirit of creative problem-solving and an openness to build inclusive and positive environments for Black student success & holistic well-being.

Size, 14

  *   Tri-Chair Model
     *   Shonte, Dr. Myrick, and One scholar
  *   3 professional staff members
     *   1 ASP staff
     *   2 non-ASP
  *   2 faculty members
  *   2 undergraduate scholars
  *   2 graduate scholars
  *   2 community/alumni members
  *   Selected through nominations
     *   Staff, faculty, and scholars can decline nominations
     *   Work will still continue
Time commitment

  *   Meetings 1.5 hours monthly as a body
  *   Subcommittee meetings: 1.5 hours bi weekly
  *   Outside work: 2 hours per month
  *   Includes not limited to researching, checking in, surveys, etc.
  *   Total commitment: Approx. 6.5 hours per month
  *   Attendance must be at 75 percent to continue serving on the committee (both subcommittees/large committees)
  *   Set monthly meetings at the beginning of the year (provide dates upfront)

Reporting Structure (meetings set ahead of time):

  *   Chairs report annually  to VCSA/Provost/Chancellor
  *   BSEWG 2.0 will report out on quarterly basis to campus community for transparency/feedback

     *   Meetings set at the beginning of the quarter (e.g., Friday of Week 8 for academic year) and promoted to the community via VCSA/ASP/BFASA.

Who’s housing/archiving?

  *   All large committee minutes/video will be uploaded onto a folder housed by ASP.
     *   Minutes must include the following: who was present, start/end time/ agenda
  *   Subcommittee meetings minutes must be taken and shared with the larger group.
  *   Agenda will be decided by the chairs and at least three days prior to set meeting, the agenda will be sent out to committee for any additions or changes.

Week 3 of Winter quarter
