Simplified Process for Online Course Offerings for Summer Session ’22

Dear Colleagues,

In partnership with Vice Provost Jennifer Brown and Summer Sessions Director Leonard Taylor I write to make an update to the December 17th message I sent with the subject Extension to the Deadline Process for Summer Session 22 Course Proposals.

The Senate’s Committee on Courses has approved a request from Summer Sessions to pilot an expedited review and approval process to offer courses online in summer 2022, via the form appended to this email.  This will provide interested faculty and academic departments an opportunity to develop and test alternative instructional modes for Summer Session 2022 without having to submit the request through the CRS process.

For course proposals previously submitted via the Committee on Courses’ CRS deadline extension that have not yet been approved, the Registrar’s office will forward the summer expedited form to the course preparers for submission through the expedited process. The submitted CRS proposal will continue through the regular review process for post summer 2022 review.  Instructors who are interested in teaching an online course during Summer 2022, please use the referenced form. Again, if you’ve already submitted a request via the exception process, the Registrar’s office will be forwarding the new form to the course preparers.  This process is currently in place for Summer Sessions 2022 (summer “quarter”) only.
