Hello everyone!

My name is Michael Tin, and I am an incoming junior at UCR. I am currently Co-President of Change in Scientific Importance for Youth (Delta SIFY), a student-run volunteer organization at UCR that promotes education and engagement by providing immersive STEM opportunities for students in underserved communities.

Delta SIFY is currently working with Riverside STEM Academy to coach for the Science Olympiad Competition, which is a nationwide scientific competition designed to test K-12 students about scientific disciplines spanning life, personal, and social sciences, earth and space science, physical science and chemistry, technology and engineering, and lastly inquiry and nature of science. Delta SIFY's coaching program provides a great benefit to the Riverside community and allows students to engage with challenging and intriguing scientific concepts while harnessing their skills in a competitive environment.

For the upcoming school year, we are looking for professors, graduate students, or undergraduate students who would be interested in volunteering as a coach for middle school students (typically 5 students per coach). Each coach would be responsible for teaching one hour per week for a particular science or engineering based event, beginning in September (Week 0 of Fall Quarter) and ending in April (Week 1 of Spring Quarter).

If you are interested in becoming a coach, check out the Coach Information Document<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JHwQ1QYE6tz3muc5XcQdRR9tqtljoVj1cX0ef4nYYQ0/edit?usp=sharing>, which contains more details as well as a Google Form to sign up to volunteer. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me by email (mtin002 at ucr.edu<mailto:mtin002 at ucr.edu>), Discord (michaeltin), or Instagram (miketinnnn).

We appreciate all and any help from professors, graduate students, undergrads, and other community members. Delta SIFY is a movement built by the community and for the community, driven by a vision where education is a fundamental human right, not a privilege. Thank you for your time and consideration!
