Hi Estella,
We're super excited to have you and our UCR undergrads participate in the STEM Solutions Learning Lab next week! We have about 50 students registered from 20 different high schools in the region.
Date: Thursday July 25, 2024
Location: Bourns Technology Center<https://maps.app.goo.gl/F6ktH2m1b8uCzuCf9> - 1190 Columbia Ave, Riverside, CA 92507 Please note that you will enter via the Cornerstone Church Entrance.
Time: 1:15-2:315
Room setup: There will be several round tables set up in the large room. Last year after the UCR students introduced themselves, we had them stationed at a particular table where they could answer questions from the high school students. The high school students bounced around the tables.
Do you have any questions regarding the event? We're here to support you in any way we can so please let us know how we can help.
Gracias,
\Dear Estella,
Last summer you generously helped organize a group of UCR undergraduates to participate in a college round table discussion as part of the STEM Solutions Summer Learning Lab. This event was a huge hit with the high school students and teachers.
This year, I'm working again with STEP <https://www.stepconference.org/AboutUs.cfm> to put together one week of their STEM summer learning labs. The overall theme of the week will be focused on the use of biotechnology to address emergent problems around human health, environmental challenges and food security. I was wondering whether Chicano Student Programs was available again to partner on this event.
Just as a reminder of last year’s event, we set up about 5-6 tables where UCR students could answer questions about a variety of different college life topics:
1.
2.
3. Volunteering Opportunities
4.
5.
6.
7. Internships and navigating career prep during college
8.
9.
10.
11. Choosing a University
12.
13.
14.
15. Choosing a Major
16.
The dates of the program are July 22 - July 26, 2024, and we have tentatively scheduled a time slot for this discussion on Thursday July 25 from 1:15-2:30 pm.
Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing from you
Cheers,
Loralee
