Hello everyone!
Our second AHGSA meeting (and last meeting of the school year) will be held
next week.
Please respond to this when2meet link as soon as possible! My apologies for
not getting this email out earlier---I was quite sick last week.

*NOMINATIONS*
As always, the last meeting of the school year entails discussions
about AHGSA nominations! Below I have included information about the
nomination and election process.
A new president and the conference coordinators will be nominated for the
'25-'26 school year!
- I will send out a Google form later this week.
- This will remain open for a week from the day it is sent.
- Once the nominations are closed, I will be in touch with those who have
been nominated to ensure that they would like to be considered for
president.
- A Google form will be circulated for voting once I have confirmed with
the nominees.
* Please note that only the new president and conference coordinators will
be elected before the end of the quarter. Nominations and elections for the
rest of the AHGSA cabinet will occur during Fall '25 quarter. This will
provide next year's incoming grad students in our department a chance to be
nominated for these positions. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any
concerns with this.
*AHGSA cabinet positions:*
1. President
2. Vice President
3. Secretary/Event Coordinator
4. Faculty Liaison
5. Treasurer
6. Online Content Liaison
7. Campus GSA Representative
8. Conference Organizers (typically also given the roles of vice president
and treasurer)
*AHGSA cabinet position descriptions:*
President: Organizes meetings, sets agendas, and ensures AHGSA runs
according to the guidelines listed in the constitution. The president is
responsible for ensuring AHGSA is in good standing as an organization with
the university. The president acts as a central authority for the officers
to report back to in between meetings. Initiates and presides over a
committee of students to organize the yearly Graduate Student Symposium.
Vice President: Presides in place of the president's duties in the event
that the president is not able to do so.
Secretary: Facilitates communication, particularly
between AHGSA representatives and the Art History Graduate Student
community. Maintains an email list of current Art History graduate students
as a forum for communication and to distribute information such as meeting
announcements. Responsible for taking notes during meetings and
distributing those notes to the Art History Graduate Student community. (+
plans and facilitates In Conversation Series, and other events)
Faculty Liaison: Responsible for maintaining an open line of communication
between faculty and the graduate student community. Regularly attends
scheduled meetings of the faculty; fairly represents the needs and concerns
of the graduate student population and addresses them to the faculty. The
representative's main focus is to keep a high level of visibility for
student needs and concerns, and to support continued departmental
development at the graduate student level.
Treasurer: Writes budget and keeps financial records, including Quarterly
Financial Reports. Seeks out additional alternative financial sources as
needed.
Online Content Liaison: Responsible for maintaining and updating the
Facebook group page for the graduate art history program as well
as AHGSA website.
GSA Representative: Attends GSA meetings and votes on the organization’s
behalf.
Conference Organizers: Plan and execute the annual Graduate Student
Conference.
Please start thinking of who you would like to nominate and if you yourself
would be interested!
Best,
Lexie Varga
