2012 marks the 40th Anniversary of Chicano Student Programs at UCR! To celebrate this milestone, a very special Alumni Reunion is planned at Homecoming on March 2, 2012. We would like to personally invite you to the reunion and encourage your participation in all the festivities. Please share with others that may be interested in attending. ¡CUADRAGÉSIMO ANIVERSARIO! a milestone of great significance for UC Riverside and Chicano Student Programs. Come join the celebración as we reflect on the past forty years.

The campus has grown to 20,000 students with Chicano students representing approximately a third (6,104) of the total population.  In 1972 there were three hundred forty-five Chicano/Mexican-American students (6.3%) on campus.

We invite you to come and experience the changes, the growth and re-establish ties with past compañeros and make new connections. Professors and staff members have gone, new ones have arrived and others still remain. The mural still exists and graces "El Centro" at its new location.  Join the fortieth anniversary celebration beginning with a Reunion Dinner on Friday March 2, 2012 at the UCR Alumni and Visitors Center.

We are looking for your photos and other memorabilia of your time at UCR and CSP to display at the reunion. Dr. Carlos Cortés, one of the founders of Chicano Studies and Chicano Student Programs at UCR, will read from his just-published autobiography, "Rose Hill: An Intermarriage before Its Time."  In addition, he will elaborate further on the adventure of establishing UCR's Chicano Studies and Chicano Student Programs.
