Riverside, CA -- KUCR 88.3fm continues its series of cutting-edge "Comedy Apocalypse" shows with a new "Earth-Shattering Mayan Calendar 2012 Edition," featuring three critically acclaimed performers. Two are well established comics at the top of their game and one is a rising star getting rave reviews. The comedy show, always held near the end of the academic quarter, is scheduled for Wednesday, February 22nd, 8:30pm, at UC Riverside's Barn.
Greg Fitzsimmons, topping the bill, has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_Conan_O%27Brien>, Late Show with David Letterman<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Show_with_David_Letterman>, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tonight_Show_with_Jay_Leno_%281992_TV_series%29> and Comedy Central. In 1996, Greg hosted the MTV game show Idiot Savants<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiot_Savants_%28game_show%29>. From 2003 to 2005, he was one of the writers and producers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, for which he won four Emmy's. He went on to write for Louis C.K. He's a regular commentator on Vh1<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vh1>'s Best Week Ever<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Week_Ever> and I Love The<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_The> series. He is a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Howard_Stern_Show> and The Adam Carolla Podcast<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adam_Carolla_Podcast>. Fitzsimmons recently appeared on John Oliver's (The Daily Show with John Stewart) New York Stand Up Show<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Oliver%27s_New_York_Stand_Up_Show> on Comedy Central. His latest book is Dear Mr. Fitzsimmons and his weekly podcast is available on iTunes. He has many videos online posted on YouTube and elsewhere.
Dean Edwards is a stand-up comedian, actor, singer, writer, voice artist, comedian, and musician who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, P Diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy, The Late Show, Black To the Future and Celebrity Death Match. Brent Weinbach is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor who has appeared on Conan, Lopez Tonight, Comedy Central, toured with the Comedians of Comedy and performed at the Coachella Festival. Brent was a winner of the Andy Kaufman Award at the HBO Comedy Festival, in recognition of innovation in stand-up comedy. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, he was formerly a Professional Jazz Pianist and Substitute Teacher. His first CD, inspired by radio monologist Joe Frank, was called "Tales from the Brown Side". His second CD, released in September 2009, is called "The Night Shift" and features a blend of live recorded comedy, studio recordings, and original musical compositions. Critics on Weinbach: "scary, hilarious and weird in the best way" (Time Out NY), "disturbingly brilliant" (LA Weekly), "a name to watch" (New York Magazine), "Weinbach's comedy is about poaching characters from real life and inhabiting them that you forget who you're watching onstage" (East Bay Express).
