I would like to invite you to the 6th Annual Spirit of the Tribes 5K Run/Walk, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the University of California, Riverside. Come join us for a morning full of culture, fun, and exercise for family and friends. The Spirit of the Tribes 5K is a fundraising event for UC Riverside student scholarships. There will be a community expo, awards, prizes, and lots of healthy fun. Parking is $5 in Lot 1 and Check-In/Registration is available at the Bell Tower at 7am on Race Day. Save money and time by submitting your Pre-Registration<http://spiritofthetribes5k.com/registration.htm> online today! Pre-Registration closes Sunday, November 13th at midnight.
Get Sponsors
Sign up as an individual, or recruit your friends, family, and/or co-workers to join you on a team. Set a fundraising goal and ask everyone you know to sponsor you in the Spirit of the Tribes 5K Run/Walk. All individuals who turn in $60 or more in pledges, or teams that turn in $200 in pledges will have their registration fees waived. Please ask sponsors to pay when they pledge. Your sponsors can pay by cash, or a check payable to UC Regents and note NASP Spirit of the Tribes 5K Run/Walk. 5K, 1K, & ½ K Races
There will be three races; A 5K Run/Walk, 1K Kids' Fun Run, and a 1/2K Kid's Fun Run. The Spirit of the Tribes 5K Run/Walk traverses throughout the UC Riverside Campus giving a tour of the campus for all the 5K participants. The 1K consists of two laps around the Rivera Lawn and Bell Tower and the 1/2K consists of 1 lap. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to run/walk with their kids.  5K Course Map<http://www.spiritofthetribes5k.com/coursemap.htm>

Prizes and Awards
Individuals: Prizes and medals will be given to the 1st male and female finishers of the Run and Walk categories. Also, Medals will be given to the Top male and female finishers of each age division of the Run and Walk categories. For the 1K and 1/2K Kids' Fun Runs, the 1st Boy & Girl in each race will win a Trophy, and all kids participating will receive medals!
Teams: Special prizes will be awarded to the 1st Place Running and Walking team in each of the 3 team categories; Community, UCR Registered Student Organization, and UCR Department. Each team must have all 5 team members cross the finish line.

Community Expo
There will be information and activity booths available for all participants to learn about what's going on in the community. If you are involved with an organization or community projects and are interested in having an informational booth, please contact joshuag at ucr.edu<mailto:joshuag at ucr.edu> or call (951) 827-4143 by Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

Volunteers

This is a great way to do community service hours! We will need help in areas such as participant check-in/ registrations, directing runners/walkers, and hosting water stations.
