[Vcsa-announcements] Invitation to An Evening of Japanese Culture

Good Afternoon,

I am sending this email to personally invite you to a special fundraiser for Japan relief efforts, 'An Evening of Japanese Culture', hosted by UCR Extension students on June 1.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.  I am contacting you because you have shown interest in assisting with the Japanese disaster relief efforts, and I believe you might really enjoy this opportunity to be a part of a very special evening.  We are asking a $20 donation from each participant, and Red Cross representatives will be there to issue receipts.  Please consider attending; it will be an evening to remember!  

This past week, we have been honored to have one of our students back from Japan.  Sachie Manome left for her home in Sendai just one week before the tsunami disaster.  She has come to visit with her father, and we have been so humbled at hearing their story of loss and survival.  This family has lost all of their possessions and belongings, but they are alive and well, sharing a house with other family out in the country.  Though there is so much to be done, their spirits are high and have been visibly lifted even more by hearing about how people here at UCR and in Riverside are supporting Japan.  For the Japanese students who are here, and not in Japan, this evening is a very important way to help take care of their home, family, and friends like Sachie.

We truly appreciate any support you provide.  Space is limited to 50 participants only, so please RSVP as soon as you know you would like to attend.
