[Vcsa-announcements] Orientation Updates

Dear Colleagues, 

As summer is fast approaching, Orientation wanted to share some updates.

Attached are the dates for 2011 Orientation Sessions for your reference. Starting in February the Orientation website will be updated with this information for incoming students and families. The online registration for Orientation is scheduled for a tentative launch on March 1. 

Orientation is now listed as a general provision of admission to UCR, therefore students must attend Orientation. There is an appeal process if a student is not able to attend any session, the appeal process is not publicly advertised and the students will be instructed to contact Orientation if they have any conflicts or concerns with dates. 

Additionally, we have transitioned to using a new name for the Orientation program, Highlander Orientation. For the past few years the official name for orientation was Bear Facts Highlander Orientation, starting this year we are taking away Bear Facts and moving forward with the name of Highlander Orientation. Highlander Orientation is a name that is more in-line with the direction of UCR's identity and we are excited to share this new name with our colleagues and incoming students.
