From Self-Respect to Self-Defense

self-help/self-defense classes. Wear casual clothing and comfortable,

Committee for a Women's Leadership Community in the Residence Halls
Join the committee to develop a womens leadership community in the

Sistah-2-Sistah

Sistah-2-Sistah is a monthly discussion group around the concerns of
today's Black women.
Everyone is welcome, so bring a friend and join the conversation.
Lecture Series for Women in the STEM Fields
Meetings are held from noon 1:30 p.m. in Surge

The Division of Diversity, Excellence & Equity; Womens Resource Center,
Medical Scholars Program, and faculty are presenting as speakers for the
winter and spring interactive lecture series the following individuals:
1. Dr. Pamela Clute- Thursday, February 11
2. Dr. Victor Rodgers - Thursday, April 15
3. Dr. Linda Fernandez - Thursday, April 29
The speakers will highlight their research, the challenges they have faced
in their fields, and available mentoring networks and resources for women.
Their goal is to ensure women students in STEM are encouraged and supported
both inside and outside of the classroom, as the campus is moving in new
and unprecedented directions in the STEM fields.

Celebration of Appreciation of Women Students March
2
Make plans to attend the second annual Celebration for A Day of
Appreciation and Recognition of Women Students on March 2, 5 7 p.m., HUB
355. The purpose of the Celebration is to showcase the Day of Appreciation
and Recognition of Women Students (see the Chancellors Proclamation at

as well as to commemorate women students' achievements as part of National
Women's History Month. If you are a member of the campus community, please
nominate an undergraduate and/or graduate female student by February 5 to
receive an award for academic excellence, civic engagement (e.g., community
service, leadership), or overcoming adversity. To nominate a student, send
a one-page, double-spaced, typed narrative explaining the reason for
nomination, a brief description of the nominee's contribution to social
justice, and the following:
1. Name of Nominator
2. Major Category of Nominator: Faculty, Staff, or Student
3. Contact Information for Nominator
4. Name of Nominee
5. Classification of Nominee: Undergraduate or Graduate Student
6. Award Category/ies for Nominee: Academic Excellence, Civic Engagement,
