Greeting Colleagues,
I write this message with mixed emotions to notify you that Doug Everhart will begin a new adventure as the Manager of Alcohol Programs for the Health Education Center at UC Irvine on Monday, August 16th, 2010. Doug's last day at UCR will be Friday, August 13th.
For the past 12 years, Doug has worked hard to address health topics like substance abuse and sexual responsibility on campus. He has built the Golden ARCHES peer health education program into a nationally renowned program, one that has been used as a model at regional and national conferences. Additionally, Doug's hard work has brought to UC Riverside grants that have supported UC Riverside's Safe Ride Program, CHAMPS Life skills program, and nationally recognized speakers. As a Highlanders' fan, Doug has helped UCR athletes by offering leadership development and team- building activities to improve performance, both in and out of the game.
Doug's passion for health and peer education has been a driving force behind the development of the Well. In the Well Doug has connected UCR students with the resources and tools that they need for a healthy life. The Well staff is sad to see Doug go, but very excited about his exciting new professional opportunity.
Please join us for a "Celebration of Doug" on Friday, August 13th from noon-1:30pm in the Well and in HUB 260. Light refreshments will be provided. Deepak Sharma (deepak.sharma at ucr.edu) is creating a video for Doug. If you are interested in saying a few words to Doug for this video, please contact Deepak to make arrangements. At the "Celebration of Doug" we will also have various Golden ARCHES t- shirt campaign t-shirts available for folks to sign and message for Doug.
The Well staff will work hard to support Doug's initiatives and programs during the transition period before a new Coordinator of Health Education Programs is hired. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Jennifer Miller at jennifer.miller at ucr.edu.
We wish Doug all the best as he begins his new adventure. We hope that you can join us next Friday.
Thank you,
Jennifer Miller
Director, Well
