and Support) Peer Health Education program and the CHAMPS/Life Skills
program are proud to announce the first speaker of their 2008-09 Educational
Speaker Series:

Rick Barnes: "Drink Think"
Rick Barnes is one of the most sought after speakers on today's college
speaking circuit, addressing a wide variety of campus issues. His signature
"Drink Think" program is a fun and interactive, yet serious discussion about
alcohol consumption. Unlike programs that offer only rules, regulations,
and scare tactics, Rick acknowledges the real-life decisions that every
student faces, encouraging them to make the best ones. In this program,
students are asked to seriously consider why they might choose to drink.
They are asked to consider how alcohol shapes their campus community,
affecting the users and everyone around them. Students will learn that most
students actually make healthy choices about alcohol. Most of all, audience
members are encouraged to hold their friends accountable for their
decisions, creating a new spirit of positive peer influence and a healthy
social environment.
This program is also part of UCR's celebration of National Collegiate
Alcohol Awareness Week.
