"Refueling Your Tank, When it Seems Like You're Always Running on Empty"
With special guest, speaker and author: Dr. Will Keim
Wednesday, March 5th
4:00 PM
Commons 367
In the life of a student affairs professional, it can often feel like things will never slow down. Summer, which used to be a "break" and something to look forward to, is often just as busy (if not more busy for some) than the rest of the year. Breaks never seem to come often enough or last long enough. It always seems like the projects, programs and expectations of our jobs gets bigger and more complicated, and the resources to accomplish them seem to get tighter and more scarce. But the fuel in the tank of a student affairs professional is their passion to make a difference, and their commitment to creating the best possible collegiate experience for our students.
So how do we refuel our tanks under these challenging circumstances?
Dr. Will Keim has been educating, writing and speaking on these topics for decades. He has been a campus and student affairs professional, is a nationally acclaimed and highly-sought after speaker, has authored several books, and has a unique and powerful way of captivating audiences with his dynamic, motivational and inspirational messages. He will talk about what drives us as student affairs professionals and people who care about students. He will discuss what makes our jobs challenging and motivate us to overcome those challenges and continue to perform our jobs with passion. He will challenge us to think about the way we approach our jobs, and inspire us to find effective ways to work together as a staff, a division, an institution.
During his last visit to UCR, ironically during the time of the last state budget crisis, many staff who attended this session shared that "it was just what we needed to face these challenging times, when we are all being asked to do more with less."
So, if your tank needs to be refueled or even just topped off a little bit, this is a program and opportunity you won't want to miss.
Refreshments will be served, thanks to the support and generosity of Jim Sandoval, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs
