Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that the radically new and improved Schedule of
Classes is available at classes.ucr.edu. (Please note that most campus web
sites that reference the Schedule have already been populated with this new
address.)
While we will be demonstrating the features of the Schedule at length at a
future date, I encourage you to take a look at it now. It will be
demonstrated to the Bear Facts Peer Counselors and students at Orientation
in July, so you may receive some questions.
Among other things, the new Schedule includes the following
* Improved interface for locating policies and procedures
* Simpler, more intuitive basic search interface
* The ability to compare basic course information for up to three
courses on one screen
* The ability to save individualized search criteria for immediate
review and updating during a students registration period
* The ability to save information on individual courses for
course/schedule planning and immediate review of these saved courses during
a student's registration period
* The ability to view saved courses on a weekly grid/calendar
* The ability to view final exam times for saved courses on a final
exam grid/calendar
You will not find these most of these features on any other Schedule of
Classes anywhere and we are delighted to be able to introduce them here at
UCR. While we feel the features are fairly intuitive, a step-by-step tour
is available on the site.
You will need to log in with your UCR Net ID and password to utilize the
advanced search features. If you've ever logged in to UCR Webmail or used
any of a number of UCR services, you already know your UCR Net ID. If you
are unsure of it, however, please check
http://www.cnc.ucr.edu/esai/index.php?content=ucrnetid.html for more
information.
Please be aware that the Schedule is optimized for use with Internet
Explorer on PCs and Firefox on Macs (a recent version of Mozilla should
also give good results on a Mac). While you can use other browsers, you
will not get the best results and may not be able to access advanced search
features.
The new features were designed in response to comments/requests from
students, staff, and faculty. After the first prototype was developed, a
formal survey was taken to judge student satisfaction and identify future
needs and additional changes were incorporated. Additional feedback from
staff and faculty would be appreciated.
