On Behalf of Dr. Wallace Cleaves, Director of the University Writing Program:

Welcome to UC Riverside! We are looking forward to your joining the campus community. This message is about steps you need to take to satisfy the UC Entry-Level Writing Requirement in a timely manner. First, you need to review the pathways to satisfying the Entry-Level Writing Requirement. Check the list on our website<https://uwp.ucr.edu/elwr#before_enrolling_fulltime_at_ucr> to see whether you have already satisfied that requirement by at least one of the approved methods.

If you have not satisfied the requirement by one of these pathways (our current records indicate you have not yet done so), you should sign up to take the Analytical Writing Placement Exam on the UCR campus. There is ONE final test date before the start of the fall quarter: Wednesday, September 20, 2023. We strongly encourage you to reserve your seat for the exam sooner rather than later.

If you have satisfied the ELWR: please make sure you submit your official test scores (or transcripts) to UCR Admissions to clear the requirement from your record. You will continue to receive notifications to complete the AWPE until the requirement is officially cleared from your record. You do not need to complete the AWPE if you have satisfied the ELWR, but you must ensure your official documentation has been submitted to UCR Admissions.

The Entry-Level Writing Requirement and the placement examination have nothing to do with admission to UCR. We are writing to you because you have already been admitted. What you need to do now is begin to make plans to pass the UCR Entry-Level Writing requirement as soon as possible.

Please do the following:

  * Visit https://uwp.ucr.edu/elwr#awpe for more information about the exam.
  *   Register<https://ucriverside.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5swZnqJVLHnpJgq> for exam.
  * Students requesting accommodations for the exam need to contact<https://sdrc.ucr.edu/incoming-admitted-students-disabilities> the Student Disability Resource Center.

We wish you success at UCR. General information about the Entry-Level Writing Requirement and the Analytical Writing Placement Exam can be found on our website at: https://uwp.ucr.edu/elwr.

If you have further questions, please contact the UWP Counselor, Sheena Thrush, at sheena.thrush at ucr.edu<mailto:sheena.thrush at ucr.edu>. Our goal is to help you succeed at UCR.
