Dear SOE Community,
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this year's SOE
Research Conference. We're especially grateful to all our presenters who
shared their scholarship and made the theme "Education in Community:
Collective Study and Struggle" come alive through their research.
The Research and Writing Support Center is grateful to the many colleagues
who made this event possible. Special recognition goes to our exceptional
conference co-chairs and graduate writing mentors Katrya Ly and Jasmine
Wynn, who rose to every challenge with grace and dedication. The SOE
Research Conference Planning Committee—Anthony Briseno, Brittany
Cummings-Barkley, Emily Dech, Tanis Gaines, Stephanie Gutierrez, Amy
Hoffman, Kimberly Valencia-Franco, and Devin Williams—provided invaluable
support throughout the planning process.
We're particularly thankful to Dr. Alice Lee for her leadership as founding
faculty member and her guidance as she transitioned the conference to the
RWSC. Her collaborative work with the co-chairs and planning committee in
selecting and securing Dr. Jessica DeCuir-Gunby for our keynote address was
instrumental. Dr. DeCuir-Gunby's presentation was truly wonderful, as were
Dean Spencer's timely opening remarks.
Brittney Morales and the marketing team offered unwavering support in
promoting this event. A special thanks to Dr. Raquel Rall for all her
support and guidance during the planning process. Our undergraduate writing
mentors and SOE student ambassadors were essential on the day itself. We're
also grateful to the LIFTED program—Stephanie Gutierrez, Alex Howarth, and
Dr. Amos Lee—for gathering and sharing LIFTED students' research.
These events truly take a village in solidarity. As the RWSC continues
leading the SOE Research Conference in the years ahead, we look forward to
building on this year's success and working with our community to shape
future programming. In that spirit, we'd appreciate it if all attendees
could complete the post-conference survey
<https://forms.gle/tDPK8e7MCnEWKPo8A> no later than Wednesday, 2/18.
Again, thank you to all those who participated!
In gratitude,
Bryan
