Full Professor at the School of Education and Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGEdu) and Informatics in Education (PPGIE) at Federal University of Rio Grade do Sul (UFRGS). Visiting Professor - Fulbright Program at Teachers College at Columbia University, USA (2018-2019) and PRINT/CAPES at Ed at Lab at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), Spain (2023). Master (1991-1993) and PhD (1994-1998) in Computer Science/UFRGS. Coordinator of the Center for Digital Technology applied to Education (NUTED/Cnpq), since 2000. Author of the books: Pedagogical Models In Distance Education (2009), Competences In Distance Education (2013), Pedagogical Recommendation In Distance Education (2019) and Digital Competences In Education: From Concept To Practice (2022). Member of the National Science for Education Network, Fapergs Education Advisory Committee and the Scientific Council of the Brazilian Association of Distance Education (ABED).
Social-Affective aspects in Distance Learning Environments
The lecture will address socio-affective aspects in virtual learning environments.
The first part will be an explanation of the importance of studying the socio-affective aspects in education, focusing on virtual learning environments and more specifically on the environment used at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, which is ROODA. We have developed two functionalities in it, the Affective Map and the Social Map. The affective map is a tool that graphically presents students' moods (dis)motivation and (dis)satisfaction. The social map aims to present the relationships that are formed in the environment, based on the display of sociograms. Also, the lecture will address the concept of recommendation and how pedagogical strategies aimed at professors are recommended based on the maps.
The socio-affective competences in distance education will then be explained.
Finally, the work of our research group and its results will be presented: 1) Pedagogical Strategy Recommendation Model Based on Socio-Affective Aspects; 2) Socio-Affective Combination Model, 3) Socio-Affective Model based on Learning Analytics for the ROODA Virtual Learning Environment and 4) Socio-Affective Competences Map.
