Dear GSOE faculty, staff, and students,

As you may know, hundreds of UCR donors, alumni, students, staff, and faculty will soon mark the successful completion of Living the Promise, a $300 million comprehensive campaign<https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2021/01/27/uc-riverside-celebrates-campaign-completion-feb-18-20>.

I’m writing to encourage you to consider registering and participating in one or more of the free, virtual Campaign Celebration<https://giving.ucr.edu/celebrate-event-program> events, particularly “The Seeds of Promise Panel (The World-Shaping Power of Philanthropy),” on Friday, February 19, featuring our own Dr. Katherine Stavropoulos, and “Celebrating Excellence: A Toast to UCR” on Saturday, February 20.

At the February 19 panel, Dr. Stavropoulos will be speaking about her exciting research on the neural underpinnings of cute aggression<https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2018/12/04/so-cute-you-could-crush-it>, which is the urge to squeeze, pinch, or bite very cute things. You can watch her Tedx-style talk, “Baby Yoda and Your Brain,” in advance of the event, and register for this, and the other celebrations throughout the week, below.

  * Watch “Baby Yoda and Your Brain”<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmThU8kCBPA&feature=youtu.be>
  * Register<https://giving.ucr.edu/celebrate-event-program> for UCR Campaign Celebration weekend

I would like to add my personal thanks to each of you who have contributed so much to the success of this effort, as well as to the many ways in which UCR continues to serve our students, grow our campus, and improve our world through pathbreaking research.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to seeing you at the celebration.

Best regards,

Louie Rodriguez
Interim Dean and Professor
