Dear UCR Retirees’ Association Members,



On behalf of the UCR Retirees’ Association (UCRRA), the UCRRA Nominations
Committee is inviting members to run for 2026-2027 Executive Board officer
positions. Per our Bylaws, officers are elected by the membership annually
and the positions for which we are seeking candidates are President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications & Outreach Director and
Events & Programs Director.



The President serves a three-year.  All other positions serve one-year
terms, which begin on July 1, 2026. A position on the Board provides a
unique opportunity to assist in the development of social and cultural
programs for UCRRA members as well as the following:

·       Promote the general welfare of retired staff, retirees’ spouses or
domestic partners and retirees’ surviving spouses or domestic partners.

·       Offer opportunities for social, cultural and other continuing
relationships among the members.

·       Foster continuing involvement in campus activities, volunteer work
or part-time employment.

·       Inform and assist members in utilizing benefits available to them
while enhancing services.

·       Participate in the systemwide Retirees’ Association Council of
University of California Retirees’ Association (CUCRA).

·       Coordinate activities of the UCR Emeriti Association when mutually
beneficial.



While we have most incumbents are willing to run again for some positions,
anyone is welcome to run for any position. To view position descriptions,

The slate of candidates for the UCRRA Executive Board positions are as
follows:



*President*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       *Andy Plumley* is the current UCRRA President and reached the
maximum number of three consecutive terms at the end of June 2025.  This
term limit was waived for 2025-2026 as no one ran for this position.  The
term limit may be waived again should no one run for President, and Andy
has indicated that he is willing to return in this case.

·       Anyone running for this office must have UCRRA Executive Board
experience.



*Vice President*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       *Sheryl Hayes* is the current UCRRA Vice President and has
indicated she will run for this office again.



*Secretary*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       Mitch Boritz is the current UCRRA Secretary and has indicated he
will run for this office again.



*Treasurer*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       *Mike Donovan* is the current UCRRA Treasurer and has indicated he
will run for this office again.

*Communications & Outreach Director*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       *Jorge Sanchez* is the current UCRRA Communications & Outreach
Director and has indicated he will run for this office again.

*Events & Programs Director*

·       *Open Recruitment*

·       The current incumbent is not seeking re-election.

*UCRRA Board Elections*

The UCRRA Board Elections will take place during our Spring Luncheon &
Business Meeting on Friday May 15, 2026. The election will be conducted by
voice vote unless we have more than one candidate for a position. In this
case, we will elect those positions by an on-line secret ballot process
prior to the spring meeting. More information on that will be sent to all
UCRRA members, if necessary.
