To ensure the University of California benefits resources are used wisely and information remains up to date, UC will conduct eligibility reverification of some enrolled family members, beginning with the mailing of reverification packets on March 1, 2025.  Relationship statuses change over time, and the reason UC will verify the continued eligibility of certain previously verified family members. Reverification is in addition to the standard family member eligibility verification (FMEV) process for newly enrolled members.

FMEV Administered by UnifyHR
UnifyHR manages the verification and reverification process for UC and issues requests for documents. Emeriti and retirees may be contacted by UnifyHR by mail, phone or email.

Understanding the Process
Emeriti and retirees who enroll new family members during the year or during Open Enrollment will receive a packet of materials from UnifyHR to help them complete the verification process. UC will also reach out to confirm the continuing eligibility of some previously verified members.

You will receive a packet of verification materials from UnifyHR:

*         In early 2025 if you enrolled a new family member or members in your UC coverage during Open Enrollment

*         At any time throughout the 2025 plan year if you completed verification more than 3 years ago for the following dependents: spouse, domestic partner, stepchild, grandchild/step-grandchild, legal ward or overaged disabled child

Respond by the Deadline
Emeriti and retirees that are contacted must respond by the deadline shown on the letter to protect their family members' coverage.
