Re:
Health Net COVID Testing Updates

Effective January 1, 2025, the UC Blue and Gold and UC Postdoctoral HMO plans, offered by Health Net, will change their coverage for out-of-network COVID-19 tests, vaccines, and therapeutics to 50% coinsurance, from no cost in 2024. A letter was sent to members on October 28, 2024. Members must pay out-of-pocket for over the counter (OTC) antigen COVID-19 tests that are purchased out-of-network and submit a medical claim form for reimbursement. The tests are limited to eight per member in a 30-day period, and the reimbursement is capped at $12, including tax and shipping costs per test.

Medicare plans do not cover at-home OTC COVID-19 tests, but PCR tests are covered as a plan benefit when ordered by physicians.

For the latest coverage for COVID-19 tests by UC non-Medicare medical plans, visit UCnet on COVID-19 tests updates at: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/benefits/health-welfare/medical/#ucbg.
