Reminder to Attend the UCRRA Virtual Bylaws Meeting on 4/11

Dear UCRRA Members,

Thank you to those who have registered! The UCRRA Executive Board authorized a review of our existing Bylaws in 2022. Current practices, particularly in officer duties and election restrictions, were not in line with Bylaws. This along with reviewing other UC campus retiree association bylaws led to a major rewrite of our Bylaws. This effort was led by Karim Zahedi, UCRRA Vice President, and Patricia Smith-Hunt, Chair of the UCRRA Hospitality Committee, along with input from the entire Executive Board.

At our last board meeting, the Executive Board approved the amended Bylaws to be brought forward to the membership for approval. Please find attached three documents for your review:

*         UCRRA Bylaws - Proposed 2023 Amendment Guide. The intent of this document is to highlight and provide context and rationale for the proposed changes.

*         The current UCRRA Bylaws

*         The Proposed 2023 Amended UCRRA Bylaws

Per the current Bylaws, any proposed changes to the Bylaws need to be sent to the membership at least fifteen (15) days in advance of voting.  As we wish to have these changes in place before our next election cycle, we are calling a special zoom meeting on Tuesday, April 11, at 9:00 a.m.  Approval of the amended bylaws requires a two-thirds approval vote of those members attending the special meeting.
