UCR Email Access Update

Retirees and emeriti may have received an email communication from UCR Information Technology Solutions (ITS) stating that as of December 31, 2021, retirees and emeriti will no longer be able to log into their Office 365 UCR email using basic authentication. Basic authentication means having the ability to access applications and/or mobile devices that rely only on a username and password to connect to Office 365 services. This statement does not apply to retirees and emeriti. ITS has confirmed that retirees and emeriti will not be required to use the Multi-factor authentication (MFA) when accessing their UCR email. Retirees and emeriti will be able to access their UCR email via the web at: https://outlook.com/ucr.edu. Please note that if a version of Outlook older than 2016 is being used, Outlook will require you to update to a newer version.

Suggestions on Resolving Possible UCR Email Access Issues after December 31, 2021

*       Mobile Device Access: If emails stop syncing to your mobile device, it is recommended to remove the UCR email account and re-add it.

o   For older phones, retirees and emeriti may need to download the Outlook application from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store to continue email access on their phones.

For any questions or for technical support, please contact the UCR ITS BearHelp at 951-827-4848. Due to the holiday campus closure, ITS will be closed on Thursday, December 23, 2021 and will reopen on Monday, January 3, 2022.
