DBRs, please share this information via your internal listserv. Do not reply to this email. Please send a separate email with questions to benefits at ucr.edu<mailto:benefits at ucr.edu>.
UCOP recently reinstated the mailing of "Medicare While Still Employed" communications to actively working employees and their enrolled spouse/domestic partner who will be aging into Medicare.
The "Medicare While Still Employed" letter, last distributed in 2017, provides background information on Medicare and guidance to UC employees and their covered spouses/domestic partners who will be aging into Medicare and covered under a UC-sponsored employer group medical coverage. The communication also includes special considerations for Domestic Partners and Health Savings Plan members.
The data for the mailing of information will be pulled from UCPath on the 5th of each month based on enrollments from the prior month (i.e., the letter on September 5th will be sent to any member, spouse or domestic partner enrolled in August). A separate letter is sent to each enrolled individual aging into Medicare.
The mailing file criteria will only target:
* Active employees and/or their enrolled spouse/domestic partner
* Aged 64 years and 7 months
This information will be issued on an ongoing basis. There will be no catch-up letters to those over 65.
No action is required from the enrolled member. The letter serves as an educational resource and includes links to additional information.
For specific questions, please contact the UC Retirement Administration Service Center<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/benefits/understanding-your-benefits/personalized-support/rasc/> (RASC) or the UC Riverside Campus Health Care Facilitator, Ranada Palmer, at ranada.palmer at ucr.edu<mailto:ranada.palmer at ucr.edu> for further guidance.
