Reminder - Process for Rehiring a Retiree

When Department HR Representatives are coordinating to rehire a retiree, the following process should be followed.

Before confirming and agreeing to return to work, the Retiree is required to:

*         Have an offer of employment with position, FTE, and appointment duration

*         Complete the steps in the Returning Retiree Benefits Checker Tool<https://uc.jellyvisioncustom.com/rehired-retiree-benefit-eligibility> to fully understand how benefits will be impacted based on the appointment.

*         Review the How will my benefits be affected<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/retirees/understanding-your-retiree-benefits/returning-to-work-after-retirement/rehired-retiree-benefits-eligibility/#effects> and FAQs<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/retirees/understanding-your-retiree-benefits/returning-to-work-after-retirement/rehired-retiree-benefits-eligibility/#faq-understanding> to learn more.

*         When the return to work is confirmed, the retiree must complete the UCRP Reemployed Retiree Notification form (UBEN 1039)<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/wp-content/uploads/tools-and-services/administrators/docs/ucrp-reemployed-retiree-notification-form-uben-1039.pdf> and email the form directly to rehireretiree at ucr.edu<mailto:rehireretiree at ucr.edu>.
