UC’s health and welfare benefits eligibility rules for rehired retired staff and recalled academics are changing effective July 1, 2025.  As this date approaches, UCOP has provided resources and information regarding the upcoming Rehired Retiree Benefits Eligibility policy change.

If an employee (with confirmed position appointment, duration, and FTE) is expected to or considering to be rehired immediately following retirement (within six months), please ensure:


·         they complete and submit via email the UBEN 1039 — UCRP Reemployed Retiree Notification Form<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/wp-content/uploads/tools-and-services/administrators/docs/ucrp-reemployed-retiree-notification-form-uben-1039.pdf> to rehiredretireebenefits at ucr.edu<mailto:rehiredretireebenefits at ucr.edu> for processing,

·         DBRs review and share the frequently asked questions<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/retirees/understanding-your-retiree-benefits/returning-to-work-after-retirement/rehired-retiree-benefits-eligibility/#faq> (see excerpts below) and

·         refer inquiries from Faculty and Staff to the resources below provided by the Retirement Administration Service Center to respond to questions or concerns about benefits eligibility.
