As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the retirement experience at RASC, UCOP will conduct a series of online focus groups and in-person user testing sessions with UCRP members.

The goal of this research is to gather valuable insights from UCRP members about their experience with the UC Retirement At Your Service (UCRAYS) platform to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.

Overview
The online focus groups will explore member attitudes, perceptions, and general impressions of the UCRAYS platform.  The user testing will enable us to observe how members interact with UCRAYS and uncover any usability issues.  Our target audiences for the focus groups and user testing include active and inactive UCRP members and retirees.

About the online focus groups
The live, online focus groups will occur on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time for retirees/other payees, and 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. PT for active/inactive participants.  The focus group — which can support up to 1,000 members — will last approximately 1 hour.  Those who can’t attend the live session will have the option to provide feedback through an asynchronous flex session, which will be available June 18, 2025, to June 25, 2025.

Both the live and flex online focus groups will be conducted on a platform called Remesh.  They are entirely chat-based and can be accessed from any device with an internet connection.  All responses are anonymous and confidential.  The feedback shared will be used only by the RASC team and our consultants to improve the future UCRAYS user experience. About the in-person user testing sessions
The in-person user testing will be conducted on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. PT for active members and from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for retirees.  This testing will use a smaller sample size of about 10 participants each session (consistent with this type of testing) and will be conducted at the RASC office in Oakland (1100 Broadway Avenue, Third Floor) and facilitated by our partner, Segal Benz.  The sessions will last about one hour.

Using a UC computer, participants will log into a UCRAYS demo account, scrubbed of personally identifiable information.  They’ll be asked to complete a series of tasks, followed by questions to better understand how easy or difficult it was to complete.

Similar to the online focus groups, all responses are completely confidential and will be used only by the UC RASC team to improve the future UCRAYS user experience.
