UCOP was informed that Kaiser Permanente experienced another privacy breach affecting members in the Southern California region (See the trailing HRB for reference to prior breach). On September 3, 2024, Kaiser Permanente discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to the email accounts of two employees. Their investigation revealed that protected health information (PHI), such as first and last names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and medical information, was potentially accessed and/or viewed. However, Social Security numbers and financial information were not accessed by the unauthorized party.

The  Kaiser SoCal Member Notification<https://documents.ucr.edu/HR-Benefits/benefits-Kaiser-SCAL-Member-Notification.pdf> letter was issued to impacted members, including 435 on the Kaiser commercial plan and 181 retirees.
