Due to the widespread magnitude of the recent health care industry data breach, it is highly recommended that faculty and staff take steps to protect their data.
We want to remind all faculty and staff about the University-sponsored Experian Identity Theft Protection Plan, which became effective on April 1, 2024. This benefit is offered in collaboration with Experian, a trusted leader in identity protection services. Important features of the Experian Identity Theft Protection Plan include:
1. Credit monitoring, reports, and scores: Receive credit reports, scores, and real-time alerts for any significant changes to your credit report, helping you detect potential identity theft.
2. Identity theft insurance and restoration services: Up to $1 million of identity theft insurance and 24/7 restoration services in the unfortunate event of an identity theft.
3. Dark web and proactive monitoring: Active scans of the dark web and many other databases for any compromised personal information.
4. Device protection and online privacy: A suite of privacy tools to help defend your digital data across all your devices.
5. Digital financial management: Financial tools and personalized insights to help you achieve your credit and financial goals.
All benefits-eligible faculty and staff were automatically enrolled in the program, and it remains an eligible benefit after retirement. However, to take full advantage of the program features and add dependent children up to age 18, employees must register for an account on the Experian website. UCnet has an Identity Theft Protection<https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/other-benefits/identity-protection.html> page that contains plan documents, program features, instructions on how to access the Experian portal and much more.
