[UCRDBR] Updated Group Insurance Regulations (GIRs) now available

Updated Group Insurance Regulations (GIRs) now available

This is to notify you that the Group Insurance Regulations (GIRs) have been revised and effective as of September 1, 2022.  The GIRs have been updated to address Active Employee benefits.

The following lists content changes to the GIRs:

Part I - No Changes



Part II

*        Inclusion of Volunteer Clinical Professor Series appointments as categorically ineligible for Health & Welfare (H&W) benefits

*        Inclusion of "WOS" (without salary) job code appointments as categorically ineligible for H&W benefits

o   Separate and distinct from WOS Pay Group

*        Rephrase to describe initial eligibility for UCRP & offer of Full Benefits

*        Clarification on 750/1000 Rule & SMP (standard measurement period) for H&W benefits

*        Appointment Reductions


Part III

*        Supplemental Health Plans

o   Aligning Supplemental Health Plans with 120 Day Rule

o   Direct Pay managed by via UCPath

*        Inclusion of Zero FTE (full-time equivalent) and impact on H&W benefits

*        Inclusion of Pay Group changes to WOS and impact on H&W benefits

*        Additional PIE (period of initial eligibility) for leaving HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) service area

*        Effective Date for PIEs and Medical Plan changes

*        Short Work Break and PIEs

*        DepCare FSA (flexible spending account) and Health FSA and when coverage ends due to Leave Without Pay
