Missed Premium Deductions for the Aflac Supplemental Health Plans

During a recent audit, UCOP discovered premium withholdings were missed for 2,000 systemwide employees enrolled in Supplemental Health Plans with Aflac (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity).  To correct this error, missed premiums will be withheld as catch-up deductions from impacted employees' pay in May and June.  Amounts owed will be split over one to four paychecks depending on the employee's pay frequency and the total amount due.  Deductions will begin on the paychecks dated May 25 for employees paid bi-weekly and June 1 paycheck date for employees paid monthly.

A communication was sent from the UCPath Center to all impacted employees.  The communications are customized to show the employee's total missed premium amount, catch-up deduction amounts to be withheld from future checks, and the corresponding paycheck dates.  Measures have been put in place to prevent any future occurrence of this type of error.

Impacted employees may contact the UC Plus Customer Service Center, our Aflac Plan Administrator, at (888) 212-7201, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST with any questions.
