JOB SUMMARY

Under direction, manage and supervise the Benefits Offices and services at both the Davis and Sacramento campuses. Determine staffing and strategic needs of providing new programs and services to One UC Davis. Influences, shapes and collaborates on employee benefit programs. Manages human, financial, and often physical resources, and develops procedures and processes to attain unit goals. Assists in formulating and administering policies and programs for the campus and functions with autonomy. Represents the unit at campus meetings or committees. Manages the accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental and campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets. Oversee and provide a full range of benefits counseling and interpretation of benefits policies, contracts, and state/federal law in all areas of UC Benefit programs such as group insurance, retirement and investment plans, and disability programs. Interpret policy governing non-UC managed programs such as CalPERS, Social Security retirement and disability programs, Medicare, State Disability (SDI), and other locally-administered benefit programs. Provides advice and assistance to Benefits staff on complex problems and policy interpretation.
