If you are using Write It Review this quarter and plan to assign Shirley Chisholm's essay "I'd Rather Be Black than Female," you might be interested in reading/using the attached editorial from today's NY Times. Gloria Steinem makes a very similar argument: it's easier to get votes if you are a black man than if you are a woman (i.e., people liked Barack Obama more in Iowa than they liked Hillary Clinton).
