UPCOMING SDRC EVENTS

Making Activism Accessible
If your activism or programming isn't accessible, it isn't inclusive.  Meet Jenny and Glyn, SDRC Disability Specialists and student organization advisors, where they will discuss how you can identify potential barriers to access and implement methods to make events more accessible and inclusive.  They will go over the meaning of accessibility, the importance of making inclusion part of your culture,  and strategies you can immediately apply for your next program/event.

Kevin Hines
The New Mental Health Allies Team (led by Counseling & Psychological Services & The Well) and support of the Student Disability Resource Center are excited to bring Kevin Hines to campus!
Kevin is a suicide attempt survivor, and only 1 of 36 people survived the Golden Gate Bridge fall. He now travels the world sharing his story of hope, healing, and recovery while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness & the ability to survive pain with true resilience.

Disability Ally Training for Student Leaders

This workshop is specifically for UCR students. The goal of this workshop seeks to facilitate awareness, understanding of disability through connecting students with resources, knowledge and relationships of disability as diversity. Participants in this program will gain knowledge about what it means to truly be an ally for students with disabilities.

Topics include:
o   Disability Law,
o   Academic Accommodations,
o   Disability Etiquette,
o   Hidden Disabilities,
o   Disability Demographics
o   Accessibility

Student Participants will also receive a Disability Ally badge that can placed in their email signature notifying students that they are a safe space for individuals with disabilities.
