 Judy Heumann is one of the nation's leading voices on disability justice. A life-long champion of disability rights, Judy played a pivotal role in organizational leadership and advocacy and in the

implementation of civil rights legislation for people with disabilities, including Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act, 1973), the IDEA (1975), the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990), and, on

an international level, with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2007). She continues to advance the empowerment of people with disabilities around the world and

was a co-founder of the World Institute on Disability. Judy previously served in the federal government as Special Advisor for International Disability Rights at the U.S. State Department

(2010-2017) and in the Department of Education (1993-2001) as Asst. Secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.

Get involved and represent students with disabilities at the UC System Wide Level as an Appointed Officer on the UC Student Association Board!  Deadline for applications is May 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM.

The UCSA Board established the Appointed Officer program for students to support and advise the association on all matters relating to their respective fields, providing regular reports on their respective activities and correspondence.

Applications for the 2021-22 Board of Directors are due May 31, 2021 at 11:59PM. If selected, applicants must attend mandatory Board Orientation, which will likely happen over Zoom on a weekend in mid-July. Those who cannot commit to attending orientation in full should not apply.
