Reducing Eye Strain:
Windows
Night Light
Recent Windows 10 builds offer Night Light, which reduces blue light based on when the sun sets in your area. Night Light is accessed through the Display category in the Settings menu. You can change the strength of the blue filter with a slider or switch between automatic and custom schedules for when to turn Night Light on and off.
For more information, visit the Microsoft support page<https://bit.ly/3lj7c9m> (https://bit.ly/3lj7c9m)

Mac/iOS
Night Shift
Apple offers Night Shift for both Macintosh computers. Its functionality is identical to Night Light in Windows 10, with an intensity slider and automatic and manual schedules.
To access Night Shift from your Mac computer, visit the Displays section in the System Preferences and navigate to the Night Shift tab.
Apple's support guides<https://apple.co/31qCpzq> offer more information on accessing Night Shift from your Mac computer (https://apple.co/31qCpzq).

Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society
Student leaders with disabilities are forming a chapter of Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society<http://deltaalphapihonorsociety.org/> at UCR. This Society will facilitate development of leadership and advocacy skills, provide educational programming on disability related topics, facilitate networking and leadership opportunities, and connect students with scholarships. If you are interested in being a member, please complete this questionnaire<https://forms.gle/MQCekTv3FUswfVfh6>. You may contact the organization's advisor: jennifer.biggers at ucr.edu with any additional questions.

Alternate Media
Students are highly encouraged to purchase e-text versions of required textbooks. When e-text is not available, the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) works with the campus bookstore, publishers, and other partners to provide course materials in e-text formats.
Submit your Alternate Media Request using the R'Ability Alternate Format Textbooks Module<http://rability.ucr.edu/> as soon as course materials are announced. Required course material will be prioritized. Please e-mail sdrc-at at ucr.edu if you have questions. It may take up to three weeks to complete requests.
If you drop a course or your reading assignment changes, email sdrc-at at ucr.edu as soon as possible to update production schedule.

Accessible and Assistive Technology
Smart pens, document conversion, audio recording and transcription, as well as note taking are just a few technologies available to students either through borne accessible platforms, technology you may already be using, or other means.
Accessible technology is a technology designed with the needs of the largest amount of users in mind, in other words universal design. This technology employs built-in customization features so that users can really individualize their experience to meet their needs.
Assistive technology is specifically designed to help a person with a disability to perform a task. Assistive technology alone will never guarantee access for people with disabilities. Accessing information in any form is only possible when that information is born accessible, meaning it was designed with accessibility in mind.
If you have been approved, please call 951-827-3861 to schedule an appointment with an accessible technology specialist. Discover what will work best for your specific needs.
