Recent increases in simultaneous EV charging in Parking Lot 1 have resulted in the main electrical circuit break for this area tripping off during these new higher peak demand periods. Transportation Services is working with Facilities Services to increase the electrical capacity in this area. Additional details will be provided as they are available.
As a short-term resolution, we have activated ChargePoint's Circuit Sharing mode on the Lot 1 Level II chargers. During this period when two vehicles are connected to the same single charger, the amperage for each vehicle will be reduced from a maximum of 40 amps down to 20 amps. Although this will result in slower charging rates for some vehicles, this setting keeps all of the chargers online as we will not exceed the current maximum amperage for this parking lot. Users who will be adversely impacted by this temporary change are advised to consider charging in nearby Parking Lots 6 or 24.
