Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies

University of San Diego

The University of San Diego and the Ethnic Studies Program invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies with a specialization in Asian American/Pacific Islander Studies beginning in the Fall 2009.  Candidates should have expertise in social movements with an emphasis in transnationalism and/or environmental justice.  All candidates must hold a PhD or terminal degree in Ethnic Studies or related fields.  Applicants must be able to teach Asian American Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies courses utilizing interdisciplinary teaching and critical scholarly perspectives.  The Ethnic Studies Program at the University of San Diego focuses on the importance of race and ethnicity in the US context.  At the heart of our work is a commitment to social justice and community service learning, which directly supports the values of catholic social teaching.
