Laos will host ecotourism event

Lao National Tourism Administration (LNTA) invites travel
professionals to participate in the World Ecotourism Conference (WEC)
2009, scheduled to be held in Vientiane 15-17 July at the Don Chan
Palace Hotel.

Positioning itself as an ecotourism destination, Lao PDR will host
World Ecotourism Conference (WEC) 2009, to draw ecotourism players to
the country to network and share experiences, best practices and
technology.

The conference is themed "New Paradigms and Resilience for Sustainable
and Responsible Tourism in Developing Countries" and will focus on
developing regions, which need to be sustained by a combination of
private sector markets, led initiatives and supportive government
policies.

The topics will focus on new strategies and applications, innovative
capacity building and management, global networking through new media
technologies, as well as public-private sector cooperation.

Lao National Tourism Administration (LNTA) expects 500 delegates to

The event will also include the International Green exhibition, of
which over 100 booths will feature ecotourism products.

LNTA is working with DISCOVERYMICE, a Malaysian- based event organizer
to stage the conference. The event has gained the support of the
Tourism Authority of Thailand, Vietnam National Administration of
Tourism, UNWTO, PATA, Malaysia Ecotourism Association, and airline
partners such as Lao Airlines, THAI, Vietnam Airlines and Bangkok
Airways.
