A life inside

A BRITISH heroin smuggler who cheated the death penalty by getting pregnant in jail was yesterday caged for life in Laos.
Samantha Orobator, 20, artificially inseminated herself with sperm from another prisoner while awaiting trial.
She was held ten months ago and admitted planning to fly to Thailand and then Australia with 680g of the drug.
Anyone found with more than 500g faces the firing squad in the communist South East Asian country - but mums-to-be may not be executed under the law.
Five-months-pregnant Orobator, of Lewisham, South East London, was sentenced after a three-hour hearing in capital Vientiane.
Dressed in blue prison overalls, she sobbed as she was put into a prison van.
She has 21 days to appeal.
A spokeswoman for charity Reprieve, which funded her defence, said Orobator could serve her time in Britain due to a new agreement between the countries - but would have to waive her right to appeal.
