Back in July 2008 I wrote to a number of Southeast Asia specialists, including you, inviting contributions to New Mandala's Four Letter Words project.
 
Since then this new initiative has garnered excellent contributions on a range of words.  All of the essays we have published thus far are available on the website.
 
The aim of the 4-Letter Words project, just to jog your memory, is to showcase short reflections (of about 500-750 words) on a series of "key" words.  Right now we are looking to expand our collection of essays so that the project can continue to grow over the coming weeks...ortherwise it will, no doubt, just fade away.  Perhaps you have colleagues who would also be interested in contributing?  I don't mind if you pass this message on to them.
 
But, more importantly, if you haven't yet sent me a short essay please consider doing so.  In 2009 New Mandala is receiving big waves of traffic and it is wonderful when we can expose readers to more of the excellent work done in Southeast Asian Studies around the world.
 
I look forward to hearing from you whenever you get a chance.
