Thanks to Bonnie Brereton for drawing attention to the important article by Nick Nostitz on the events of 7 October 2008. This was first published on New Mandala on 11 October 2008.

The author, Nick Nostitz, is a long-time resident of Bangkok, and he has provided New Mandala with some other close-up accounts of recent events in Bangkok. His post about the violence of 7 October 2008 has generated unprecedented interest.  Rapidly translated into Thai after its initial publication, it has been reproduced on all manner of Thai-language websites and is the subject of ongoing discussion and enquiry in official and unofficial circles in Thailand.
