Colleagues -- Pls. see attached the position announcement in "US and
the World." The search is currently under way at the Univ. of
Washington's School of International Studies, with a deadline of Nov.
14, 2008. The position is broadly defined and could accommodate
interests ranging from traditional foreign policy to US imperialism/
domination to globalization. It could be of interest to members on
this list who combine their Viet Nam expertise with another one in

US AND THE WORLD
The Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, at the
University of Washington, Seattle, invites applications for a tenure-
track assistant professorship in the field of US and the World to
begin on September 16, 2009, contingent on budgetary approval.
Applicants should be able to present evidence of social science-
related scholarship and teaching related to any aspect of US foreign
policy and/or US engagement politically, economically, socially, or
culturally with one or more regions of the world.
The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate
courses in his or her area of specialization, as well as other
comparative and international studies classes, teaching four courses
per academic year over three quarters. A PhD or equivalent is
required by date of appointment. This position is a full-time, nine-
month appointment. University of Washington faculty engage in
teaching, research, and service. Candidates with area or
international studies strengths, and PhD in History, Political
Science or other social science discipline or international studies,
are especially urged to apply. Applications will be accepted until
position is filled, but preference will be given to applications
received by November 14, 2008.
