Subject: Roxanna Brown
Dear Bob & Emma:
Both of us are in shock and mourn a friend whom we respect and love.
Roxanna integrity and expertise will be deeply missed, as she has given much of her life to Southeast Asian art to the cost of sacrificing everything else. She has taught us a lot and shared her passion. We have profound admiration for her as she overcame personal tragedy and persistently pursued academics. The last few years that she achieved recognition appear so short and insufficient rewards for her struggles.
About the IRS and Federal authorities, we find no words to describe our indignation. For the sake of pursuing "fraud", they applied extreme measures, and inflicted undue shameful punishment to a gentle, timid soul, an art scientist who would never harm even a fly. We cannot imagine our friend Roxanne in the frightening environment of a jail, a dark cell, trembling for her life, her freedom, in despair upon threats of a lifetime in jail! the impact on her only son, the loss of everything she has managed to build through sheer determination and enduring sacrifice!
We like to join you in protesting publicly about this crime, how can our government be so wasteful of resources in victimizing Roxanne, and dare use interventions so inappropriate to the accusation! As physicians we are also concerned she was allowed to die from the ulcer perforation without timely healthcare, in agony and slowly dying while in federal custody!
Please let us know what we can do...We are so indignant!
We are praying for the soul of Roxanne, liberated from the constraint of a body which gave her constant pain and often betrayed her spirit.
Quynh & Chan
