Dear All,

The new issue of the Journal of Asian Studies has a
surprisingly large number of book reviews for Southeast Asian
Studies. As you know, the JAS has recently published very few
book reviews in the SEA Studies subject area. Hopefully, this
new trend will continue. 

Second, there are three articles that focus on SEA Studies, 2
on Vietnam Studies by Nyung Tuyet Tran and Anne Marie
Leshkowich and one on SEA Buddhism by Thomas Borchert "Worry
for the Dai Nation: Sipsongpanna, Chinese Modernity, and the
Problems of Buddhist Modernism."

P.S. please send in any announcements about new publications
in TLC or SEA studies. Many of our colleagues in Southeast
Asia, who sometimes (esp. in Laos and Cambodia) have limited
access to new journal articles and books, appreciate these
announcements.
