The Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies at the
University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a
position as full-time (100%) lecturer in Khmer language.
Appointments begin 7/1/2008 and may be renewed annually. The
appointee will teach two five unit undergraduate courses per
semester,  namely Introductory Khmer (Khmer 1A and 1B),
Intermediate Khmer (Khmer 100A and Khmer 100B), and one
three-unit course (Khmer 101 A and Khmer 101 B). 
Applicants must possess native or near-native fluency in
Khmer, and a demonstrated understanding of Cambodian culture,
history and society.  Preference will be given to candidates
with proven experience in teaching Khmer as a foreign language
and with proven creativity and pedagogical success in the
design and delivery of courses at the three advertised
language levels.  A M.A. or Ph.D. degree in an appropriate
field is desired, but not necessary. 
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and
teaching experience.

referees, a C.V., samples of any relevant teaching materials
authored by the applicant [such as past syllabi, teaching
texts], and evaluations of past teaching.  The file should be
