BREAKING NEWS

Update: Samak has flu, hospitalised 'a few days'


(BangkokPost.com) - Doctors at Bumrungrad Hospital, where Prime  
Minister Samak Sundaravej was admitted on Tuesday morning, said the  
premier has influenza.

Mr Samak is advised to remain in hospital for a few more days. No  
visitors are allowed.

Earlier reports said Mr Samak had food poisoning after eating  
fermented fish at an outdoor market in Vientiane, Laos, on Monday.

He was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning, and all work  
schedules were cancelled for the rest of the day.

The cabinet held its weekly meeting without him. Deputy Prime Minister  
Somchai Wongsawat chaired the meeting. Mr Somchai is acting premier  
while Mr Samak is in hospital.
